Thunderbird is an excellent free alternative to Outlook.

It allows you to send and receive emails from all of your different accounts and manage them all from one central location.

You may like to add one or two useful plug-ins such as:

  • FoxClocks to display the time in one or more major cities of the world.
  • Lightning to add a calendar to Thunderbird

First download a copy of any plug-in you want to use.

Then select the ‘Tools’ menu from Thunderbird and ‘Add Ons’ from the drop down menu. Next click the ‘Install button (don’t worry it doesn’t do anything to any plug-in highlighted) then browse and select the plug-in you have downloaded. Thunderbird will probably prompt you to restart it to activate the plug-in (or add on).
