by Michael Fleischner

I’ve been focused on helping web sites rank in the number one position for nearly a decade. As a result I’ve read and seen a lot of information published on SEO that is either totally inaccurate or validated with actual research. The good news is that I’ve sorted through a lot of this information to help you identify the best SEO strategies.

By working with literally hundreds of small and medium sized websites, I have found that top ranked sites have a number of factors in common. What are they? I’m about to share these factors with you and explain what separates those in the top Google positions and those that are never found on page one of search results.

The first search engine ranking factor has to do with inbound links. We all know the importance of generating inbound links to your web site or blog. However, these links are only effective if they include your keywords in their anchor text. Links should always include keywords which help search engines identify your website with these links. Make sure to ask link partners to structure their links to your web site properly.

Today’s economy has many people worried about losing their jobs and they’re thinking about using the Internet to generate extra money. They scour the Internet for ideas about products, maybe they have a product they’d like to sell. By the time they get their site set up and start to market it, they find that they can be hundreds or thousands of dollars in debt. Unfortunately, because they haven’t been trained, most people never make any money on the internet.

But the truth is that many thousands of people are making $100,000 a year and more with their little Internet business. How can they do it and so many others fail? They have learned a secret formula and they just keep repeating it. They are often reluctant to share their secret, because they are afraid that if you knew it, it wouldn’t work for them anymore.

One of the secrets that have made many people a lot of money is using membership sites. Big sites like Facebook and U-tube come to mind, but there are literally thousands of membership sites. You are probably signed up on one or two membership sites yourself. The secret of many of the membership sites is that you can get paid a recurring membership fee if you have something that people want. Dating sites, for example often charge $20 – $40 a month. If you have a good membership site, you can earn $240 – $480 per year, per customer.

Okay, if you have been around in the internet marketing scene for long enough, you would have known by now that there is no such thing as a get rich scheme any more than there is a way of flying to the moon tonight. We’re going to assume that you have gotten over the hype, perhaps been burned a couple of times with unrealistic promises which didn’t quite give you the Ferrari they photographed for you in their sales letter. You know it’s going to take a good deal of work before you can find your feet and get the cash flowing in. Work generally tends to be time consuming, and the more you get into it, the more it sucks up on your hours. If you aren’t planning to do it full time, then this can be a major downer, as the apparent lack of instant success can lead to a complete loss of motivation.

Now, there are ways of getting around this. Working with some simple marketing strategies will help you see success a lot faster than you might have realized, and also will allow enough time for you to either manage the rest of your life’s obligations more comfortably, or allow you some extra time (if you are into working full-time) to do even more for your new business!

The best way is to find the good affiliate programs – the ones that pay good in terms of commission and are expensive enough for them to be worth your time (remember, it takes as much effort to sell a $5 product as it takes to sell a $55, or even a $555 one). Then learn about marketing strategies to get your affiliate link out there – article and forum marketing are good ways to starts, and you can move on to PPC once your affiliate business starts doing well.
